Friday the 13th, Varsity Theater

I wouldn’t try to convince you so much to go to another Buffalo Moon show, but these bands that we’re playing with next Friday are some of my favorites in recent years.

Plus, for what it’s worth, Food Pyramid’s set at SXSW was the best show I saw that entire week. I would drive all the way back to Texas just to see it again. Luckily I don’t have to. Neither do you.

And, Night Moves is releasing the first taste of their increasingly-anticipated first album. The song I have linked down there is one side of that 7”. The rest of the album will be released shortly on Domino Records (Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, &c.). Come check them out and know what all the fuss is about.

Also, Moonstone is the shit. It’s been too long since I’ve seen them, which is why I’m looking forward to this the most.

And Bmoon shouldn’t be too shabby either. A tightened game and lots of new material. It could even be impressive.

New Rupert Angeleyes video. I would probably get sick of all these Karen songs if they weren’t so goddamn good.

Old 4 us. New 4 you.

On March 18th, we’re hosting the Bike & Build Fundraiser, which will help send a number of local cyclists from Providence, RI to Seattle, WA. Along their 3,000 mile journey, these cyclists will be working with groups such as Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together to build, renovate, or preserve homes to broaden access to affordable housing. Headlining the show will be Minneapolis/Ecuador-based, bossanova-pop group Buffalo Moon (check out their great new video up above) and Jim Becker’s Appalachian stringband The Paulina Hollers will open. Great cause. Great music. Be there.

Buffalo Moon 7” (Moon Glyph)

Summer has passed and the severe weather season has begun in the Midwest. It is cold and raining but inside Buffalo Moon is creating another world on the turntable. Moon Glyph Records have struck gold with their first 7”. The A side “Black Magic” is a bizarre blending of angular post-punk guitars, smooth Bossa Nova piano, and a very psych song structure complete with strange effected vocals bridge and wah guitar. It’s a strange brew that is held tight with lead singer Karen Freire’s catchy vocal crooning. B side “Low Tide Moon” stands out updating the lounge exotica sound into indie hipster heaven. This song will transport you straight to a warm night on some remote island sipping a drink and watching your troubles drift away. The packaging on this record is great and being a big exotica fan myself I can’t recommend this band enough.

Old video from our first tour. A song that has been buried with a hundred others.

There was a rad party this past Friday at the historic 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis. The occasion? The homecoming of Minneapolis’ own tropicalia indie band, Buffalo Moon! To kick off the evening, Elite Gymnastics played a fairly short set of their well…

Late night music videos on Ecuadorian TV. This one is my favorite so far.

And if you´re interested, I´ll post some pictures and videos of the trip shortly. Buentrip, maricones.
